Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence winner and author of the critically acclaimed novel Birds of Opulence, Crystal Wilkinson will be at the Ernest J. Gaines Center for a book talk on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. Following in the footsteps of her previous works, Blackberries, Blackberries and Water Street, Birds of Opulence once again takes us deep into the lives of strong families in small town Kentucky. This book takes us into the lives of the women of Opulence as they cope with love, loss, responsibility, and changes. Like the Gaines Award recipients before her, Crystal Wilkinson beautifully crafts places that hold a mirror to a deep and complex southern experience rarely seen or understood by the outside world.

The Ernest J. Gaines Center hopes you will join us for this program and celebrating this year's award recipient and rising author, Crystal Wilkinson.
